Commercial Displays for Meeting Rooms, Boardrooms & Workplaces.

Selected for the Space, Not Just the Size.

Gibb Technology designs and delivers commercial display systems for meeting rooms, boardrooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, digital signage and wider workplace environments across the UK, Ireland and EMEA.

Choosing the right display involves considerably more than screen size. Viewing distance, room dimensions, content, brightness, reflections, haze, aspect ratio, operating hours and the wider AV system all influence what will perform best.

From a single professional meeting room display to large-format visual systems, GT selects technology around the space and how people need to use it.

Commercial Displays Designed for Professional AV

Commercial displays are designed for environments where reliability, control and long-term operation matter.

Unlike a domestic television, professional displays can provide commercial operating ratings, remote management, professional AV control, scheduled operation, portrait installation, digital signage functionality and specialist anti-glare treatments.

A display used periodically for Microsoft Teams meetings has very different requirements from a reception screen operating throughout the working day. GT selects the technology around the application rather than simply specifying the largest available screen.

Meeting Room & Boardroom Displays

The front-of-room display is central to the meeting experience.

Remote participants, presentations and shared content need to remain clearly visible from every normal seating position. GT therefore considers screen size alongside viewing distance, room layout, content detail, camera position, mounting height, ambient light and the wider conferencing environment.

Smaller rooms may work perfectly with a single 16:9 commercial display. Larger meeting rooms and executive boardrooms may benefit from dual displays, ultra-wide 21:9 screens or direct-view LED.

The display is designed as part of the complete room, working alongside video conferencing, cameras, workplace audio, content sharing and AV control.

Display Size & Viewing Distance

Bigger is not automatically better, but the display needs to be large enough for people at the furthest seating position to comfortably understand the content being shown.

A room primarily used for video conferencing has different requirements from a boardroom where users regularly review detailed spreadsheets, dashboards, technical drawings or financial presentations.

GT considers both viewing distance and content detail when specifying commercial display technology.

As room size and required image size increase, there may also be a point where direct-view LED provides a more appropriate visual solution than another increase in conventional LCD screen size.

Haze, Reflections & Anti-Glare Displays

One commercial display specification that is often overlooked is haze.

Haze refers to the anti-glare treatment applied to the surface of the display. Instead of allowing windows or overhead lights to produce sharp mirror-like reflections, the surface diffuses reflected light and can make content easier to see in brightly lit workplaces.

A higher haze value can provide stronger reflection control, but more haze is not automatically better. Heavy anti-glare treatments can also influence perceived sharpness and contrast.

GT therefore considers haze, brightness, contrast, ambient light and viewing position together.

Manufacturers including Sony, LG, Samsung, Hisense, ViewSonic and Planar provide professional displays with different anti-glare and haze technologies. The right option depends on the room rather than a single specification.

ASPECT RATIO 16:9 or 21:9?

Traditional meeting room displays use a 16:9 aspect ratio, normally at 4K resolution. This remains the right format for a large proportion of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex and Google Meet environments.

For larger hybrid meeting spaces, 21:9 ultra-wide displays provide considerably more horizontal screen space.

That additional width becomes valuable when the room needs to show remote participants, shared content and meeting information at the same time.

Rather than simply creating a bigger picture, 21:9 changes the amount of usable visual canvas available across the front of the room.

21:9 & Microsoft Teams Front Row

Microsoft Teams Front Row is designed to create a more inclusive relationship between people inside a meeting room and colleagues joining remotely.

Instead of placing remote attendees only in traditional gallery layouts, Front Row positions participants towards the lower area of the front-of-room display, closer to the natural eye line of people sitting around the meeting table.

Shared content can remain prominent while meeting information such as chat and raised hands remains available alongside it.

A 21:9 display gives this interface considerably more horizontal space to work with. Remote participants, content and meeting context can share one continuous visual canvas without the central bezel created by two separate displays.

For executive boardrooms and larger Microsoft Teams Rooms, this can create a more natural hybrid experience where remote participants feel more present in the physical room.

21:9 is not necessary for every Teams Room. GT considers whether single 16:9, dual 16:9 or 21:9 provides the strongest solution for the space, users and conferencing platform.

Commercial 21:9 Display Technology

The professional AV market now offers a growing range of ultra-wide display technologies.

GT can design 21:9 environments using solutions from manufacturers including Samsung, LG, ViewSonic, Avocor, Planar, Sharp / NEC and Philips Professional Displays.

Depending on the application, the solution may use a fixed-format 5K ultra-wide LCD or a custom direct-view LED canvas.

This allows GT to design the room around the user experience rather than around one manufacturer.

Commercial Display Technology Partners

Gibb Technology works with established professional display manufacturers including Sony, LG, Samsung, Hisense, Sharp / NEC, Philips Professional Displays, ViewSonic, Planar, Avocor and Promethean.

Sony, LG, Samsung and Hisense provide extensive professional display portfolios for meeting rooms, workplace AV and digital signage.

Promethean provides interactive commercial displays for workplace collaboration, presentations and training spaces where touch, annotation and digital whiteboarding form part of the requirement.

GT remains manufacturer-independent. Technology is selected around the room, technical performance, integration requirements, supportability and budget.

Commercial Displays for Digital Signage

Commercial displays also form the foundation of many digital signage systems.

Across reception areas, communal spaces and wider workplaces, displays can communicate corporate messaging, visitor information, wayfinding, dashboards and branded content.

These environments introduce different requirements around operating hours, brightness, haze, orientation, remote management and content delivery.

GT can integrate professional displays with the signage platform, media player and wider network infrastructure to create a complete system.

Commercial Displays in Practice:
The Kia Oval

At The Kia Oval in London, Gibb Technology delivered a replacement 3 × 3 video wall using nine Hisense 55VW25E 55-inch professional video-wall displays.

The new display wall was integrated with the venue's existing TriplePlay digital signage environment, bringing together commercial display hardware, mounting, signal distribution and content delivery as one complete visual solution.

Using dedicated professional video-wall displays allowed the system to be designed specifically around the requirements of a multi-screen commercial installation rather than using conventional consumer screens.

The project demonstrates the same principle GT applies across every display installation: the screen is one part of the wider AV system. Display technology, mounting, alignment, signal distribution, content and future serviceability all need to work together.

When Does LED Become the Better Option?

As the required image becomes larger, conventional LCD displays eventually reach a point where direct-view LED may provide the stronger solution.

LED can create much larger visual canvases and offers greater flexibility around physical dimensions and aspect ratio, including specialist 21:9 environments.

GT considers image size, viewing distance, pixel pitch, brightness, room architecture, serviceability and budget before determining whether commercial LCD or direct-view LED is right for the application.
