BYOD & BYOM Meeting Rooms
BYOD — Bring Your Own Device allows employees and visitors to use their own laptop or mobile device within the meeting room.
BYOM — Bring Your Own Meeting takes this further.
The user's laptop can access compatible room cameras, microphones and loudspeakers, allowing them to run meetings through platforms such as:
Microsoft Teams | Zoom | Cisco Webex | Google Meet
This can be particularly useful when a Microsoft Teams Room needs to accommodate a meeting hosted on another platform.
GT can design rooms where native video conferencing and BYOM work together, giving users flexibility without compromising the standard meeting room experience.
Airtame
Airtame combines wireless screen sharing, conferencing capabilities, digital signage and cloud-based device management.
It is particularly useful where an organisation wants to manage a larger number of rooms centrally rather than treating every meeting space as an individual system.
Centrica adopted Airtame after experiencing issues with different laptop connections, damaged cables and adapters. Moving towards wireless presentation reduced reliance on physical presentation infrastructure and helped improve meeting room availability.
GT Project: The Ministry, London
Gibb Technology installed Airtame within divisible meeting and collaboration spaces at The Ministry, the shared workspace created by Ministry of Sound in London.
The rooms incorporated Logitech Rally Bars and Rally Bar Minis, with the Rally Bar Mini spaces also using an active 5-metre Lindy USB cable to provide a simple BYOD experience.
When a user connected their laptop, they could access the room AV system and use the space for their own Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex or other video meeting.
When the laptop was disconnected, the room display automatically returned to Airtame digital signage, promoting The Ministry's shared workspace, facilities and workplace offerings.
This created a dual-purpose solution where the same display could support BYOD meetings and wireless presentation during room use, then automatically become a digital signage screen between meetings.
For shared offices, flexible workplaces and corporate meeting rooms, this can increase the value of existing displays while providing users with a simpler and more consistent meeting experience.
Mersive Solstice
Mersive Solstice provides wireless collaboration, multi-user content sharing and central management for professional meeting spaces.
It allows users to connect from a wide range of devices, including Windows laptops, MacBooks, smartphones and tablets, making it useful in environments where employees and visitors need a flexible way to share content without relying on presentation cables.
BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas deployed Solstice across more than 100 meeting spaces to provide secure wireless sharing from laptops, smartphones and tablets.
It can be particularly suitable where enterprise deployment, device flexibility, central management and digital signage are priorities.
GT Project: Arthur Mallon Foods, Monaghan
Gibb Technology supplied, installed and commissioned Mersive Solstice Pod Gen 3 systems for Arthur Mallon Foods in Monaghan.
The Solstice Pods were integrated with a Logitech Rally Bar in the boardroom, two Logitech Rally Bar Huddle systems in the smaller meeting rooms and a Hisense 65DM66D commercial display in the training room.
The solution allowed users to connect wirelessly from Windows laptops, MacBooks, smartphones and other mobile devices to share content directly onto the room displays.
When the rooms were not being used for meetings or presentations, the Solstice systems displayed Arthur Mallon Foods digital signage content instead.
This was particularly effective because the meeting rooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass partitions on both sides. The displays remained visible to employees walking both inside and outside the meeting spaces, allowing the screens to continue communicating company information even when the rooms were unoccupied.
The result was a dual-purpose meeting room solution: simple wireless content sharing when the rooms were in use and digital signage when they were not.
Crestron AirMedia
Crestron AirMedia provides wireless presentation and BYOD conferencing as part of the wider Crestron workplace technology ecosystem.
Users can walk into a meeting room and share content from their laptop or mobile device without searching for an HDMI cable or adapter. With compatible AirMedia and Crestron Flex systems, users can also connect their own laptop to the room camera and microphone, allowing a native Microsoft Teams or Zoom Room to support meetings hosted on other platforms.
This makes AirMedia particularly useful for organisations that want a consistent meeting room standard combining wireless screen sharing, BYOD/BYOM, room control, conferencing and central management. When rooms are not being used, compatible AirMedia systems can also use the display for digital signage.
Real-World Example: Hotel Renegade
At Hotel Renegade, Crestron Flex and AirMedia were installed within conference rooms to make the technology straightforward for guests who may arrive with different laptops and devices.
Users can connect an AirMedia Connect Adaptor to their own device and immediately share content wirelessly to the meeting room display, removing the need to understand the room's AV system or locate the correct presentation cable.
For a corporate workplace, the same approach can solve a common problem: employees get a consistent native meeting room experience, while visitors and external users still have a simple way to present or use their own device when required.
Kindermann Klick&Show
Kindermann Klick&Show provides wireless presentation and BYOM conferencing for meeting rooms, huddle spaces and training environments.
For straightforward wireless presentation, Klick&Show K-40 allows employees and guests to share from Windows, Mac, smartphones and tablets using USB-C or HDMI transmitters, the Klick&Show app, AirPlay, Miracast or Google Cast.
For more advanced meeting rooms, K-FleX and K-FX Plus can connect a user's laptop wirelessly to compatible room cameras, video bars, microphones and speakerphones. Users can then run Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex or Google Meet from their own laptop while still benefiting from the professional AV equipment installed in the room.
Practical Example: Adding BYOM to an Existing Meeting Room
Consider a boardroom that already has a professional USB video bar, camera and audio system, but employees increasingly receive meeting invitations across different conferencing platforms.
Instead of replacing the existing AV system, a Klick&Show K-FleX or K-FX Plus can provide a BYOM layer.
A user arrives with their laptop, connects through Klick&Show and can use the room's camera, microphones and loudspeakers for their own Teams, Zoom, Webex or Google Meet call. When another user simply needs to present, the same system provides wireless screen sharing without requiring the conferencing functionality.
For dual-screen boardrooms, K-FX Plus can also use two displays, helping separate remote participants and shared meeting content.

Which Wireless Presentation System Is Right?
There isn't one platform GT would recommend for every organisation.
Wireless presentation only
If the requirement is simply to put a laptop onto the meeting room display without cables, a straightforward wireless presentation solution may be enough.
BYOM conferencing
If users also need to access the room's camera, microphones and loudspeakers, a BYOM-capable solution should be considered.
Wireless presentation + digital signage
If screens should communicate company information when rooms are unoccupied, choose a platform that can combine wireless screen sharing with digital signage.
Multi-site deployment

Do You Still Need HDMI or USB-C?
Sometimes.
Wireless presentation is convenient, but a physical HDMI or USB-C connection can still provide a valuable fallback for restricted guest laptops, specialist applications or situations where low latency is important.
A resilient meeting room can therefore combine wireless presentation with wired connectivity rather than relying completely on one method.
Security & Network Design

Barco clickshare
Barco ClickShare provides wireless presentation and wireless conferencing for professional meeting spaces.
Users can share content through a ClickShare Button or application, while ClickShare Conference extends this into BYOM by allowing compatible room cameras, microphones and speakers to be used from the user's own laptop.
